The Miltown Malbay Community Choir first started in 2015 under the direction of Máiréad Ní Chondúin. From the start the ethos was that anyone, regardless of whether they had any musical experience or not, was welcome.
The result was a mix of people of many different walks of life coming together to sing.

This remains the case today with the current leaders Kate Daly and Donal McHugh. Some of the current members had never sung before joining the choir while others are experienced musicians.

The choir has had numerous performances around Clare and has taken part in national choir workshops including the “Big Sing” in Athlone and performed a concert in the Holy Trinity Church in Adare Co. Limerick as part of the 5th annual Limerick Sings International Choral Festival.

The Miltown Malbay community choir have also collaborated with other choirs including the Burren Children’s Choir.

Where and When?

The choir meet every Tuesday evening at 7:00 – 9:00pm in the resource centre (building next to the library) on the Ballard Road in Miltown Malbay.

The cost is €70 per term which can be paid in full at the beginning of each term or as 2 x €35 each half term. There are three terms each year with a break in the summer following mostly the school calendar.

There are discounts for the unwaged and the first night is free for new members.

The choir performs regularly usually with a Christmas concert held in December and the occasional other performance throughout the year. Anyone who wants to perform is welcome to but there is no pressure to do so.
